I'm new here and making my first foray into this community. My own focus is turning towards silver, and I'm eager to learn from your collective experience and insights. It's reassuring to find a dedicated place for these discussions!

i have bought /sold all 4 precious metals, am firm believer after 25 years that silver government issued coins (coin of the realm) of the country that you live in, is the best place to be. i would also have some similar type gold.

Thank you for taking the time to share that wisdom @maxwellsilverhammer ! Getting advice straight from the horse's mouth after your 25 yrs of experience is fantastic for a newcomer. When you mention also having some similar gold, do you have a view on a good ratio between the two for someone just starting out?

it is really what you can afford. do not buy all at once. use your discretionary cash flow to purchase the metals. today we see a gold/silver ratio at over 94/1. this can be easily tracked by using this link https://www.kitco.com/price/precious-metals
a ratio at this number would indicate that silver is a better buy as long as you do not figure in premiums. USA 90% silver can be bought at or near the spot $ amount. for that matter in todays market so can gold. most that have been following the g/s ratio believe it should eventually go back down to the 50/1, 40/1 and possibly lower. that is when a silver for gold swap would be in order. no one knows so you have to use your gut on what feels right for you. i think a ratio of 100 ounces silver for every 1 ounce gold is a good start because ultimately god has always been king. remember tax implications and what your overall reason for stacking is. for generational wealth preservation, buy and hold. keep enough cash (frn's) to pay your monthly bills.

Wow, that's a real roadmap for a beginner. The gold-to-silver ratio is a new concept for me but it makes a lot of sense as a guide for buying. I appreciate the clear advice and the link @maxwellsilverhammer !
